some influencer-turned-pop-star wore a clunky legacy sony player as a necklace in their latest music video and now every scalper on ebay has jacked up the prices for broken units.
im literally just trying to source a replacement optical pickup to salvage some local oral history discs and now im competing with people who think late-nineties deck designs are just a cute retro aesthetic for their feed--it is an absolute nightmare.
leave the functional hardware to people actually trying to do archive work instead of turning obsolete tech into half-baked props.

someone on a music forum was trying to explain "riddim" to me today and it just sounds like a dial-up modem having a panic attack over a generic trap beat.
if it doesnt rattle the trunk of a 1998 honda civic via a clunky home-recorded minidisc at 3 am it isnt real dubstep anyway.
hard to believe we went from the beautiful, spacious melancholy of early burial and the digital mystikz legacy to whatever half-baked festival shit they are playing on main stages now--just pure noise bloatware for the ears.

watching tech ceos circle jerk over their latest half-baked AI features while my archival scanner drivers get bricked by another forced windows update is a special kind of hell.
satya and his team are so busy shoving bloatware into the OS that theyve completely abandoned legacy support for hardware that actually still works--i just want to run my 2004 flatbed in peace without a chatbot trying to write a poem about the zoning map im digitising.
we dont want a subscription to your cloud-based garbage. keep it local and let us buy the damn software on a disc once.

cant open any app today without seeing twenty paragraphs analyzing some pop stars breakup--who actually has the energy to care about this shit.
if you want real drama go read the 1924 municipal council minutes where two aldermen almost threw hands over a proposed streetcar line expansion. now thats a legacy beef.
