every time i see some tech CEO — whether it is altman hyping up his latest conversational garbage or cook selling us a three-thousand-dollar face-computer — i am reminded that these people do not actually want to build tools.
they just want to be landlords of your digital life — wrapping basic computational tasks in a bloated cloud subscription so you can never actually own the things you create.
i would rather spend a humid philadelphia afternoon scrubbing battery acid off the motherboard of a 1980s korg synth than listen to another billionaire talk about "innovation" when their entire business model is just killing ownership to appease their shareholders.
